As personagens, Frosty, Rudolph, Charlie Brown, etc.

One of my favorite portuguese doll makers, that I discovered last year, and who is among one of the postcards that Alix gave me last October is the wonderful Ti´ Guilhermina She died two years ago. I tried to call her (there was a contact phone number in a link I discovered last year) but her son answered and told me the news. She was from Ribeirinha, Vila Flor, Trás-Os-Montes. I called because I wanted to visit her and see her work in person and just converse with her. I think she would be an interesting person to talk to. Very interesting.

After her husband died, she at age eighty, began carving dolls and other art from poplar (choupos) trees. They kept her busy until her death. I thank her for leaving behind a little of her soul. I think she knew that she would brighten my life a little. Her son told me that his sister, Ti´ Guilhermina´s daughter made dolls now similar to her mother´s and that is wonderful news. I can go visit her one day.

I noticed I didn´t write much about Christmas this year. I like Christmas because I like to remember Christmas´ past and the people that I love that have gone and the ones that are still around, but far. I like Christmas now...it´s new memories. When I was a kid in America, one of the things I loved to do was watch the Christmas television specials. Frosty, Rudolph, Charlie Brown etc. Yesterday, I discovered through this blog, this video.

For me the dancing , it is kind of like life...everyone is dancing doing their own thing and free, not hurting anyone. I love that. And then I love Charlie Brown who stops everything and says, "Stop the music...alright we are going to do this play and and we are going to do it right!" It´s actually very brilliant, Charles Shulz!

Have a nice weekend everyone. A free, light, and full of dance weekend!.

I would like to thank Sara* for the wonderful fabric I used for the blouse and the ribbons I used here are also from her.

A shame that you didn't get to meet
Ti Guilhermina, but good that you tried, and lucky that we have her dolls to remember her.

Adoro-te Mary!

Lovely, emotional and so simple! I also believe that dance should be as one knows it, like art in general. Forms of expression should only be ruled by those who are saying or writing or painting...
Dance is my BIG passion and I'm sure if more people danced, this world would be a better place!

Now with the weekend approaching I can hear a song:

"If you go to San Francisco... be sure to wear some flowers in your hair"
If you go on a weekend, be sure to dance (even if only in your head!)

:P
