One of the disadvantages of having a big house is that if your partner is a collector there is space in which to put everything. A house was sold in Sintra and it had a lot of history. Over a hundred years of it. When we went to have lunch at a nearby café we discovered they were clearing out the house and the next day when we returned they had a sign up saying "PODE LEVAR". Well, that was the green light for Luís to get so excited about very old postcards, stamps, and books. And secretly even though I am not an official collector and all the piles of things freak me out, I do love the fact they are old things.
Since this family had and still has a souvenir shop in the center of Sintra there was artesenato and correspondence with people all over the world who bought things from them.
The collections (of stamps and old postcards) of the patriarch of the family we brought home. What will happen to them when we are gone?
