on wood

In a search for "historic quilt" I came across the barn quilt. What started in Ohio as a tribute by a daughter to her mother, a quilter, spread through the state and then to 22 other states. Using patterns based mainly on agricultural themes the barn quilts are painted and then applied to the barns that are usually 50 or more years old. I like the connection between the quilt patterns (domestic and folk art genre) and the old barns (farming, agriculture). A conservative american graffiti.
